Broomhill Church

Naseby Park is situated in Broomhill, in the west end of Glasgow (Google map link). In 2008, a group of local residents came together to form the Friends of Naseby Park. We are one of several Friends groups across Glasgow (see http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Parks_Outdoors/

), and hope to maintain and improve the park by involving the local community and working with Glasgow City Council.

Our constitution has recently been approved by Glasgow City Council, and City and Broomhill Community Councillors have enthusiastically backed the project. Our committee meets every month and our junior committee member has designed our logo, which represents the recreational and natural elements of the park.

In February 2008, we undertook a public Consultation involving all local households. Results show that Naseby Park is a much loved greenspace, but the local community are keen to see measures to maintain and improve play equipment, and curb litter and vandalism. Following this, we have been successful in securing a new roundabout, having the park fence repaired and graffiti removed. At our request, the City Council has increased the frequency of litter collection and grass cutting.
